Rachel Logan, PhD, MPH, CPH, has been announced as the UCSF Department of Family & Community Medicine (FCM)'s newest Health Justice Scholar. The Health Justice Scholars (HJS) program was established by the department through a generous gift from the Hellman Foundation. The program’s goal is to enhance recruitment, retention, and career development of faculty members whose work advances equity and health justice, with an emphasis on individuals who are being recruited to new assistant professor rank faculty appointments or who have been an assistant professor in UCSF FCM for less than two years. Scholars receive $150,000 in funding over 2 years, to support a portion of their effort as well as project expenses.
Dr. Logan was recently appointed an Assistant Professor at FCM and previously completed her postdoctoral fellowship with the department, working with the Person-Centered Reproductive Health Program (PCRHP). She has been working with PCRHP since 2019. Her research seeks to facilitate individuals managing their sexual and reproductive health independently and through engagement with health systems by improving the patient-provider dynamic and overall care experience. She will continue her work with PCRHP offering a public health perspective to health services research and support colleagues in the FCM Research Community.
