In 2025, the UCSF Department of Family & Community Medicine advanced a bold vision for primary care—one grounded in equity, community partnership, and innovation. Across clinical care, education, research, and advocacy, our faculty, learners, staff, and partners worked together to expand access, strengthen training, and improve health for communities in San Francisco and beyond.
This year, FCM engaged 500+ learners across residency and faculty development programs, earned 20+ national and institutional honors, and secured significant research funding to advance health equity and reproductive justice. Faculty leadership was recognized nationally, including election to the National Academy of Medicine and induction into the UCSF Gold Headed Cane Society.
2025 also marked major milestones in education and clinical innovation. FCM launched the Family Medicine at Lakeshore & SFVA Residency Track, expanded lifespan-centered care programs, and introduced new tools and services—such as the Reproductive Health Hotline—to support clinicians and patients nationwide. Signature gatherings like the 21st Annual Rodnick Colloquium convened hundreds to explore timely issues shaping the future of primary care.
Throughout the year, deep community engagement remained central to FCM’s mission, from patient-partnered care and public health education to national advocacy and scholarship that informed policy and practice.
As we look ahead, we do so with gratitude for our community’s resilience, collaboration, and shared commitment to advancing primary care that is equitable, innovative, and community-centered.
Thank you to all our faculty, learners, partners, and supporters who made this year extraordinary.
