FCM Associate Professor Dr. Anjana Sharma, an expert in patient and community engagement, was among the featured speakers at UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute's Annual Community Research and Action Meeting on September 9th.
"Protecting the Health and Safety of Our Communities: Where do we go from here?" was the theme of the event. It provided an opportunity for networking and for CTSI to learn and make plans to address the research infrastructure needs of many partners in an era of increasing constraints. It drew 250 attendees, including more than 100 community collaborators.
"This meeting would not have been possible without the continued hard work and goodwill of FCM people and community partners who have built trusting relationships over many decades," said Dr. Michael Potter, FCM professor and Co-Director of CTSI’s Community Engagement Program. "The key takeaway is that we are all facing unprecedented challenges, whether in academia or in the community, and we must be brave, advocate for shared values, and work together to move forward."
