SIREN Receives NIH R01 Grant for RESOLVE Study

Caroline Fichtenberg, PhD, and Danielle Hessler Jones, PhD, Co-Directors of the Social Interventions Research and Evaluation Network (SIREN), have received an NIH R01 grant, scoring in the 1st percentile, for the RESOLVE study. Oregon state’s Medicaid agency is launching a suite of innovative policies intended to facilitate linkages between clinical systems and community and government services. The expectation is that these programs will reduce health disparities and improve health for the state’s Medicaid members. In the RESOLVE  (oREgon medicaid policy, SOciaL serVices, and hEalth) study, will examine the impacts of these policies on referrals and receipt of social services as well as on chronic disease outcomes and disparities for the state’s Medicaid population.

The oREgon medicaid policy, SOciaL serVices, and hEalth (RESOLVE) study will evaluate the impacts of three pending OR Medicaid policies: (1) a social risk screening quality measure, (2) a new health-related social needs benefit (HRSN), and (3) a social services referrals quality measure. The study will provide critical evidence on the impacts of the state policy changes on community-clinical linkages (e.g., food, housing), both overall and for food insecurity specifically, as well as on how referrals and receipt of services subsequently influence chronic disease outcomes and disparities.
