Shine Awards acknowledges and celebrates our colleagues with exceptional dedication who have gone above and beyond in supporting our teams throughout the past year.
Amy H. Lee, RN
Interim Nurse Manager
ZSFG Urgent Care Center
Amy Lee has shown incredible dedication and has gone above and beyond to support UCC for the past many years. She stepped up as an interim manager twice, providing much-needed guidance and leadership during those critical times. She initiated and contributed to many of the quality improvement projects here. Using her unique technical skills from her previous experience to solve tricky issues that are of incredible value to our unit. She also created a new workflow for a new lab POCT equipment that was brand new to SFDPH/UCSF labs and helped train our POCT team and, subsequently, the UCC team to apply that to our clinic setting. On top of that, she came up with a better system for handling calls that otherwise would’ve gone unanswered because patients weren’t in our system. Amy’s dedication, problem-solving skills, and willingness to step up when needed make her truly deserving of this recognition.

Sharon Keyes, RN, BSN, MSN
Family Health Center
Nurse Manager
Since June 2019, during a time when the challenges facing the FHC and SF DPH continued to mount, Sharon has remained a steadfast and fearless leader as the FHC Nurse Manager. She has navigated massive operational changes, from Epic implementation to the COVID pandemic; staffing shortages and HR challenges; and environmental barriers, from prohibitive space constraints, ants, bees, unhealthy air quality, to extreme heat/cold temperatures, any one of which may have deterred others. Her unwavering commitment, resilience, and vision have not only kept the FHC moving forward but have propelled us toward greater equity and justice for our patients, staff, and community.
As an inspiring leader and advocate, Sharon has fearlessly led the charge against oppression and inequities in healthcare, fostering a culture where difficult conversations lead to meaningful change and where stratified race/ethnicity data steer quality improvement initiatives. She has developed and uplifted those around her, championing staff education, leadership growth, and opportunities for professional development. Her open-door policy has welcomed an almost continuous stream of visitors sharing their dreams, gripes, and wish lists, often leaving the unseen, administrative work to long hours after clinic has closed.
Through her leadership, our clinic has expanded access to essential services, such as Sexual Health Clinic, Team Lily, and Black Centering Families, and supported the Bridge clinic expansion. With an incredible ability to balance immediate needs with long-term vision, Sharon continues to be a guiding force, investing her time and energy into mentoring, problem-solving, and ensuring the sustainability of our clinic’s initiatives. Her leadership, wisdom, and deep care are invaluable to our team.
For her tireless dedication, strategic leadership, and unyielding advocacy, we honor Sharon with this well-deserved FCM Shine Award. Her impact is immeasurable, and the FHC is stronger because of her.
