Carmen Liang, DO, MPH

Carmen Wah Liang, DO, MPH, is a board-certified family medicine physician. Dr. Liang graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Vallejo, California, and completed her residency training at Tacoma Family Medicine in Tacoma, Washington. After working as a community health and urgent care provider in Washington State, Dr. Liang obtained a Master in Public Health (MPH) degree at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and became the Medical Director of Integrated Case Management L3C (now Inspera Health), an organization that focuses on behavioral change to improve the health of patients with chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Liang is currently a Clinical Professor with the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and the Associate Medical Director for the Zuckerberg San Francisco General (ZSFG) Hospital and Trauma Center’s Adult Urgent Care Center. With her interests and experience in health care for underserved and culturally diverse populations, urgent care, and organizational development, Dr. Liang currently provides medical trainee education, conducts research, and engages health providers across multiple domains in change management, performance coaching, Intrinsic Coaching®, and Lean management to implement quality improvement initiatives and improve workforce performance. She was also a Community and Training Ambassador for the UCSF School of Medicine's Differences Matter Initiative's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Champion Training program.

As a fellow for the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF) Health Care Leadership Program, Dr. Liang co-created the UCSF Leadership Institute's Foundations for Excellence in Physician Leadership program, which is designed to provide leadership development for physicians who are in the early stages of an administrative medicine career and/or are gaining more administrative responsibilities in a clinical setting.
