The Family Medicine Interest Group organizes events and provides information and resources that enable students to explore the field of family medicine.
The goals of the FMIG include:
- Introducing students to primary care medicine in general and to family/community medicine in particular.
- Giving students exposure to the wide range of professional options available to family medicine practitioners, including research, advocacy, rural and urban practice, international medicine, working with the underserved, social justice issues, and more.
- Enabling students to meet faculty members, practicing family physicians, residents, and senior students who can serve as role models and/or mentors throughout the educational process and beyond.
