Starting July 2026, the UCSF Department of Family and Community Medicine (FCM) will welcome the first class of residents to its new Lakeshore & San Francisco VA Family Medicine Residency Track - a six-resident-per-year track designed around a clinic-first model and deep commitment to relationship-centered care.

Based at the UCSF Family Medicine Center at Lakeshore and the San Francisco VA Medical Center, the track offers a full day of continuity clinic every week, even during inpatient rotations, allowing residents to develop lasting relationships with patients from day one.
Key features include:
- Strong mentorship and longitudinal primary care experience
- Full-spectrum training across UCSF sites and San Francisco VA, including OB, pediatrics, geriatrics, and addiction medicine
- Integrated behavioral health and interpreter services
- Training in point-of-care ultrasound and procedures
- Competitive salaries and housing stipends

The track is ideal for residents seeking a community-based, equity-driven approach to family medicine in a diverse, multilingual patient setting. The track is led by Associate Program Director Bridget Foley, DO, and Residency Coordinator Sandi Borok.
