The UCSF/SFGH Family and Community Integrative Medicine Fellowship is a teaching and learning fellowship designed to develop skills in practicing holistic and integrative approaches to healing within a county health system. Curriculum and practice cover relationship-centered care, emphasizing the value of:
- Lifestyle medicine
- Mind-body practice
- Ritual and ceremony
- Spiritual Care
- Herb and supplement review
- Community care
- Nature prescription
- and more where resonant and accessible for our patient population

Components
- Integrative consult clinic
- Residency precepting and integrative teaching

Eligibility Requirements
- Completed Family Medicine residency (board eligible or certified)
- Eligible for medical licensure in our state
- Demonstrated commitment to caring for medically and economically disadvantaged patients
- Interest in integrative medicine approaches that blend evidence-based conventional and complementary practices
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, and a spirit of curiosity and reflection
Preferred Experience
- Prior work in community health, safety-net, or underserved settings
- Leadership in education, advocacy, or program development
- Experience or training in integrative medicine (not required, but welcomed)

More about the Fellowship
The UCSF/SFGH Family and Community Medicine Integrative Medicine fellowship is only open to Family Medicine Residency graduates from approved FM residencies. Applicants should have completed their 3rd year of residency prior to starting the fellowship year and be board-eligible.
As a fellow, you will be a clinical instructor for the UCSF/SFGH Family Medicine Residency.
A fellowship position at 1.0 FTE includes:
- 0.5-0.6 FTE Clinic time - A combination of continuity clinics, outpatient precepting shifts, and IM clinics. Inpatient medicine supervision may be possible
- 0.4-0.5 FTE Educational time - For case-conference, teaching, project planning-implementation, and learning. Additional details:
- Program covers full tuition to Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine Integrative Fellowship for curricular support and to confer board eligibility ● 20 days paid vacation
- 10 paid holidays
- 20 days away for education events
- Salary: Competitive PGY-4 salary
